The Task
Lifetest is a Danish company specializing in veterinary diagnostics, providing advanced equipment and testing systems to animal clinics and laboratories across the Nordic region. To enable direct data collection from testing equipment at veterinary clinics and ensure fast, reliable, and secure transmission to central analysis units, Lifetest partnered with Nord Technology to develop a comprehensive IoT-based solution.
The challenge was to ensure stable operation while enabling remote monitoring of the measurement equipment. Lifetest needed a solution that could securely transfer data from clinics, reduce the need for on-site technical support, and at the same time ensure that results were stored through daily automated cloud backups.
The solution
Nord Technology delivered a customized solution combining robust hardware with our own IoTDesk platform. This design ensures stable operation and long lifespan in demanding clinical and laboratory environments, while the Ubuntu-based Linux software provides a secure and flexible foundation for integration with Lifetest’s analysis devices.
IoTDesk enables Lifetest to monitor, update, and troubleshoot their devices centrally without the need for physical access. The solution ensures high uptime, reduced support response times, and significantly enhanced data security — all of which are crucial for the daily operation of veterinary analyses.
Nord Technology provides technical support along with ongoing consultation and assistance, allowing Lifetest to focus on their core mission: delivering reliable veterinary diagnostics to clinics and laboratories across the Nordic region.

IoT management software
IoTDesk is Nord Technology’s own platform for managing IoT devices. Through a secure cloud-based web interface, configuration, maintenance, and data management can be centrally administered. The software is Linux-based and installed directly on the device, which then functions as a flexible remote gateway.
